CAIRO – 2 October 2017: Bad news for Julen Lopetegui, Spain national team head coach, as Álvaro Morata, Chelsea`s striker, was injured on Saturday during the first half of Chelsea-Manchester City. There is a serious doubt about their match commitments because they will play against Albania and Israel in qualifying matches for the 2018WorldCup.

Chelsea was defeated by Manchester City in the 7th round of the Premier League by Kevin De Bruyne, Man City`s midfielder, amazing shot.

Morata replaced Willian his place in the 35th minute after feeling a muscular 'pinch' at the thigh. The former Real Madrid footballer felt pain after a sprint and quickly showed that he had suffered an injury.

Morata`s absence in the upcoming matches, Albania (home) and Israel (outside), will let Lopetegui to quote another striker, since the list published this week only included Iago Aspas and Rodrigo, beside Morata himself.

The options are multiple but, for the moment, the priority is to know the exact extent of the injury to the Chelsea striker.

Antonio Conte, Chelsea`s head coach, provided an update on Morata`s injury in the press conference after the match. The quotes are from Chelsea official website:

‘It’s a muscular problem. I don’t think it’s serious. He said to me: “Coach I prefer to stop, otherwise I risk having a bad injury.”

‘I don’t know. The doctor in the next few days will check the situation but I don’t think he will be available for the national team.’
